This is a rare opportunity to join a new veterinary medicine program from the ground up, helping design a student-centered curriculum built around real-world clinical excellence, leadership, communication, and the evolving demands of modern veterinary practice.

Global Veterinary Careers is supporting the recruitment of an Assistant / Associate Professor of Professional Skills / Practice Management for a new College of Veterinary Medicine in Billings, Montana . This role is ideal for a DVM who enjoys teaching, mentoring, curriculum development, and collaborative academic work, with the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy in veterinary education.

The Opportunity

As Assistant / Associate Professor of Professional Skills / Practice Management, you will contribute to courses focused on preparing veterinary students for successful, sustainable, and professionally rewarding careers.

You will work alongside accomplished faculty to design, deliver, and refine course content, support student development, and contribute to an innovative veterinary curriculum. This is a highly collaborative academic environment where your clinical, professional, and practice management experience can directly influence the future of veterinary education.

Key Responsibilities

You will be involved in:

  • Teaching within Professional Skills and Practice Management courses
  • Delivering assigned lectures and supporting small group teaching
  • Reviewing, developing, and contributing to course materials
  • Developing and reviewing examination questions
  • Advising, mentoring, and supporting DVM and graduate students
  • Engaging in independent and collaborative research in your area of expertise
  • Supporting research projects suitable for veterinary student participation
  • Collaborating with faculty across departments
  • Participating in faculty meetings, committees, and wider university activities where required

Research and Scholarly Activity

The College has particular research interests across areas including:

  • One Health
  • Wildlife and Conservation Medicine
  • Climate Change
  • Zoonotic Diseases
  • Public Health
  • Professional Skills and Practice Management research

Experience or interest in Professional Skills and Practice Management research is highly desirable, particularly where this can support collaboration across faculty teams.

Compensation

The salary range for this position is:

$150,000 to $197,000 per year DOE

Final salary will be determined based on a range of factors including experience, education, credentials, skills, knowledge, and faculty rank.

Requirements

  • DVM, VMD, or equivalent veterinary degree from an accredited institution

  • Background check and drug screening required

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA preferred
  • Experience or strong interest in Professional Skills / Practice Management
  • Experience in teaching, mentoring, leadership, business, ownership, operations, or practice management
  • Interest in collaborative academic research
  • Experience supporting veterinary students, interns, new graduates, or early-career veterinarians
