Associate Attorney - General Liability / Business Litigation Torrance, CA | Full-Time | Competitive Compensation & Benefits
About the Opportunity: A law firm based in Torrance, CA is seeking an Associate Attorney to join their team in Orange County. This is a great opportunity to work on a diverse caseload that includes general liability, business litigation, attorney and accountant malpractice defense, and some probate matters. The firm offers a relaxed culture, strong mentorship, and the chance to work with high-profile clients.
Key Responsibilities: - Handle general liability, business litigation, malpractice defense, and probate cases - Manage cases from inception through resolution, including discovery, motion practice, depositions, and trial preparation - Draft and review pleadings, contracts, and other legal documents - Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel - Collaborate with partners and support staff to ensure high-quality legal work
Qualifications: - J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school - Active California Bar license, in good standing - 3-5 years of experience in general liability, insurance defense, or business litigation (probate experience a plus) - Strong legal writing, research, and communication skills - Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment - Sense of humor appreciated - the managing partner is known for his creative, lighthearted approach
Compensation & Benefits: - Competitive compensation (commensurate with experience) - Performance bonuses - $5K per 75 billable hours over 1700 - Full benefits - firm covers 70% of health, dental, and vision - Bar dues and MCLEs covered - Simple IRA, PTO, and holidays - Hybrid schedule - 4 days on-site for the first month, then flexible remote options - Supportive, down-to-earth work environment (casual dress code - jeans and t-shirt friendly) - Convenient location with great local spots nearby
