Every member of the culinary team plays an essential   guest-facing   role, contributing both culinarily and interpersonally to the restaurant’s reputation for excellence.

Job Summary

The Commis Chef at Bōm is responsible for executing Michelin-level culinary preparation and cooking while simultaneously delivering polished, professional guest interaction at a chef’s tasting counter. 

Commis work in full view of guests throughout service and must be equally confident in culinary execution and professional demeanor. The ideal candidate has experience in high-end or Michelin-starred environments and thrives in a fast-paced, detail-driven kitchen where teamwork and discipline are paramount.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

Culinary Execution
• Prepare ingredients according to Bōm’s tasting-menu standards.
• Maintain strict recipe adherence and consistency across services.
• Execute advanced knife skills, station organization, and mise en place management.
• Maintain exemplary cleanliness, sanitation, and food safety.
• Assist with inventory, product rotation, and ingredient preparation, and aspects of service.

Teamwork & Ownership Mindset
• Work collaboratively with the Head Chef and culinary team.
• Demonstrate self-motivation, discipline, and strong work ethic.
• Adapt quickly to changes and maintain composure under pressure.
• Uphold all operational and grooming standards consistently.

Standards

• Display knowledge of the restaurant’s concept, cuisine, and guest experience philosophy.
• Maintain professional behavior and respectful communication with guests, managers, and teammates.
• Present a polished appearance within strict grooming and hygiene guidelines.
• Adhere to all company policies, SOPs, and safety protocols.
• Participate in meetings, trainings, and staff development activities.
• Maintain safety and cleanliness within all work areas.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 years of experience   in a Michelin-starred or comparably high-end restaurant required.
• Strong culinary foundation, including advanced knife skills and station management.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Exceptional attention to detail and ability to follow direction precisely.
• Positive, team-oriented attitude and strong communication skills.
• Full-time availability required.

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation:
• Base hourly:  $18.00–$20.00/hr
