Special Election Canvasser

Hiring Immediately - $25-27/hr + bonuses

Full-time & Part-time

 

Help us turn out voters in Virginia for the special election! We are looking for a team of canvassers to help us reach young voters who deserve a voice in this election. From now through Election Day, April 21st, our team will connect directly with college students on their campus. We will be asking voters to VOTE YES to pass the new temporary redistricting amendment, and encouraging them to text three friends to do the same.

This role is a great opportunity to gain experience in the following areas: Leadership, Communication & Advocacy, Community Outreach & Engagement, Campaign Work, Public Policy, and Social Enterprise.

Get paid well! Canvassing positions start at $25/hour. Team Lead positions start at $27/hour. We offer overtime pay, paid training, sick pay, and bonuses for friend-referrals.

Locations : Blacksburg & Richmond, VA

We are hiring immediately, all positions run through April 21st with possibilities for advancement afterwards.

Canvasser Responsibilities ($25/hr):

• Engage with the public in a friendly and respectful manner
• Deliver a compelling campaign message, and collect complete survey answers from voters
• Participate in staff training to improve outreach skills
• Follow the campaign's safety protocols

The ideal candidate:

• Passionate about progressive politics and fostering democracy
• Strong communication skills; you should enjoy working with other people and be willing and excited to speak with everyone
• Hard worker who will stay motivated to engage as many people as possible
• Open to new challenges and are interested in building their campaign skills
• Culturally competent and able to respectfully engage with teammates and the community
• Strong prefrences for current students or recent alumni of Virginia Commonweath University, and Virginia Tech
• Prior canvassing experience is preferred, but not required.

Note: Employees must be eligible to work in the US. Upon hire, everyone will be required to present original, and unexpired documents from the Lists of Acceptable Documents to complete the I-9 form verification.
