Job Description

Salary: $45,000 - 65,000 per year Requirements:

  • College diploma in computing
  • Experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting micro-computers, computer hardware, and software
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite and Windows operating systems, as well as familiarity with Apple products
  • Understanding of SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager)
  • Awareness of programming and development environments
  • Familiarity with enterprise networks and communication protocols
  • Knowledgeable in cybersecurity measures and sensitive data protection
  • Bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written
  • Demonstrated initiative, discernment, and tact
  • Methodical, precise, and detail-oriented
  • Strong prioritization and decision-making capabilities
  • Excellent listening and advisory skills
  • Team-oriented with superior customer service and interpersonal abilities
Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical support to administrative staff, professors, and students
  • Manage user accounts for network and email systems
  • Maintain and update inventories of IT equipment
  • Install and repair audiovisual equipment for various activities and events
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to software, operating systems, hardware, and other technical components
  • Install, verify, and update software on micro-computers
  • Troubleshoot micro-computers and their components
  • Recommend, install, and maintain servers and micro-computers
  • Maintain core systems, including virtual servers, antivirus, backups, and web server services
  • Provide basic support for institutional systems such as PaperCut and Raisers Edge
  • Implement IT policies and procedures
  • Monitor and support the operation of network components
  • Test and implement system changes
  • Document installation and user procedures
  • Ensure continuous operation of the universitys network infrastructure and servers
  • Recommend, install, and maintain network components
  • Monitor performance, conduct backups, and perform diagnostics and repairs
  • Ensure system and data security
  • Stay current with emerging technologies
  • Automate and integrate systems using programming when necessary
  • Promote effective use of equipment and software
  • Identify improvements to enhance the use of IT
  • Provide proactive solutions and recommendations to supervisors
  • Participate in short- and medium-term strategic IT planning
  • Attend IT representatives meetings and collaborate with University of Ottawa IT services
  • Identify training needs and serve as a resource for users
  • Adhere to any other related tasks assigned by supervisors
