Cost Accountant | Plainwell, MI

Salary Range: $71,000 - $105,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain standard costs for all manufactured products.
• Analyze manufacturing costs, including labor, material, and overhead, and report on variances.
• Prepare detailed cost reports and analyses for management decision-making.
• Manage inventory valuation, including costing, obsolescence, and reserves.
• Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and cost forecasts.
• Identify and recommend cost reduction opportunities and efficiency improvements.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts related to inventory and cost of goods sold.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
• Proven expertise in standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
• Demonstrated proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills for financial modeling, data analysis, and reporting.
• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and cost accounting methodologies.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with ERP system implementation or optimization, particularly related to costing modules.
• Proficiency with data visualization and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
• Familiarity with Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Advanced Excel modeling skills for complex cost analysis and forecasting.
