Job Description

Job Summary

Development and Fundraising Manager

Do you believe that parks make communities thrive? Are you the kind of person who can turn passion into action—and action into lasting impact? Friends of Franklin Parks, a fast-growing and dynamic nonprofit dedicated to enhancing Franklin’s parks, trail systems, and open spaces is looking for a Development & Fundraising Manager who can help us grow our roots even deeper into the community we serve.

We’re seeking a relationship-builder, storyteller, and strategic thinker who loves connecting people to purpose. The Development & Fundraising Manager will be the engine that drives our fundraising and marketing efforts—fueling projects that make Franklin’s parks more beautiful, accessible, and alive.

About the Role

As Development & Fundraising Manager, you’ll work closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, Advisory Board and a small-but-mighty team to plan, organize, and execute fundraising strategies that inspire generosity and deepen engagement. From cultivating corporate partners and individual donors, growing our endowment fund, to participating in communications that showcase our impact, you’ll play a key role in helping us grow both resources and relationships.

Team & Culture

  • Be an integral part of a collaborative, fun, and mission-driven team that shows up for one another—and for our parks.
  • Participate in community events and organizational initiatives that strengthen relationships across Franklin.

Job Responsibilities

What You’ll Do:

Fundraising & Donor Engagement

  • Partner with the Executive Director to set annual revenue goals and craft fundraising strategies that help us meet—and exceed—them.
  • Manage an active portfolio of current and prospective donors, with a focus on corporate, foundation, and individual giving.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors—building authentic, long-term relationships that lead to meaningful gifts ($25,000+).
  • Support and expand the Endowment Fund, growing a community of engaged supporters who champion our mission.
  • Lead fundraising events and campaigns that are as effective as they are enjoyable.

Communications & Storytelling

  • Participate in marketing and communications efforts, including print, digital, website, and social media, ensuring that our story shines through every platform.
  • Collaborate with the team to design campaigns that inspire action and elevate our brand in Franklin and beyond.
  • Write and submit compelling grant proposals, aligning funding opportunities with our mission and impact.

Operations & Reporting

  • Ensure accurate and timely donor data, gift acknowledgements, and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain ethical fundraising policies and best practices.
  • Create monthly development reports for leadership and the Board.

What Success Looks Like

  • You consistently meet or exceed fundraising goals.
  • Donor engagement and endowment participation grows across all giving levels.
  • Fundraising and communications systems hum with efficiency and heart.
  • You make a visible, positive impact on Friends of Franklin Parks’ culture and community reach.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3–5 years of related experience (fundraising, marketing, or nonprofit development).
  • Proven success cultivating and securing major gifts.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strategic thinker who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with Franklin/Middle Tennessee’s philanthropic community a plus.
  • Love of parks, trails, and community-building? Even better!

Additional Information

Benefits

  • Compensation: Competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • Benefits: Generous paid time off, health insurance, collaborative work environment, and the satisfaction of knowing your work helps make Franklin a greener, more vibrant place to live.
