Job Summary
The Director of Finance is responsible for providing oversight and supervision to administrative staff, adhering to documentation and reporting requirements, and evaluating profits, costs, and spending to maintain the financial security of the company.
Performance expectations include the following:
- Meeting the quality expectations of consumers, family members, and affiliates.
- Maintaining an accurate and cost-effective analysis of company costs, spending, billing, and other financial operations.
- Protecting the financial security of the service recipients and the company.
- Performing all job duties in compliance with New Horizons policies and procedures and DIDD standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Preparing and publishing timely financial statements presenting to the Board of Directors monthly and attend quarterly meetings with Board.
- Managing and complying with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Reconciling and analyzing company bank accounts, depreciation, accruals, and balances.
- Reviewing and approving accounts payable invoices.
- Reviewing and approving employee and person served payroll before submission.
- Reviewing and approving person served financial documentation.
- Maintaining and tracking leases, liability insurance, and company vehicle insurance.
- Administering and tracking operational credit cards/purchases and company vehicle fuel cards.
- Making remote deposits as needed, as well as physical band deposits as needed.
- Manage external insurance, state and federal audits.
- Completing all required DIDD training and additional training as needed for continuous development.
- Participating in administrative meetings.
- Reporting any neglect, abuse, exploitation, and any other suspicious or inappropriate behavior.
- Performing all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and / or Board of Directors.
- Creating departmental budgets with executive director and monitoring/reporting the status of each on a monthly basis.
Qualifications
- BA degree and/ or certification in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field
- Experience (at least 7 years) working with financial and accounting systems
- Ability to create, utilize, track, and update systems for monitoring company financials
- Previous management experience, including strong interpersonal and decision-making skills
- Attention to detail for review of payroll, account ledgers, and invoices
- Strong presentation and verbal/ writing skills
- Current TN driver’s license required
- Satisfactory background check and drug screen
- Completion of all DIDD required training, including Relias
- Ability to interact in a professional manner with service recipients, co-workers, and outside professionals
- CPA or advanced degree strongly preferred
