Job Summary

Employees with bidding restrictions on their current position should not apply.  Supervisors are responsible for notifying the Staffing Specialist if an employee is restricted from bidding on open positions.  In addition, applicants who are selected for this position may be prohibited from transferring or bidding on another position once they accept this position.

Key Accountabilities

The Distribution Staker classification requires that an employee shall be able to perform all of the following described duties:

• Use pipe locating equipment accurately to locate and mark gas and electric services and main lines
• Receive and respond to request for emergency staking request
• Conduct Pipeline Patrols
• Test and calibrate locating equipment
• Screen Miss Dig Tickets
• Repair meter conditions except buried valves
• Change Dial Glass
• Meter Reading
• Winter Survey

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must complete the prescribed course of instruction and pass a subsequent examination of the duties within this classification. 
• Must obtain and maintain any required licenses to perform the duties under this classification. 
• Must demonstrate the ability to accurately read and interpret all gas and electric maps. 
• Must demonstrate the physical ability to perform the duties within the classification. 
• Must be able to work a variety of shifts, and work overtime when and where it Is assigned.
