Job Description

Are you a budding fashion enthusiast with a keen eye for design, a passion for creativity, and a desire to embark on a rewarding journey in the world of apparel design? If so, we invite you to join our team as a Junior Designer at SSCO.

This in-office, entry-level role is the perfect opportunity to kickstart your career in fashion design and collaborate with a talented team dedicated to creating stylish and innovative apparel. Working closely with other members of the design team, you will bring concepts to life and ensure the brand's vision is translated into commercially successful products by contributing to the creative product development process every step of the way.

Responsibilities

  • Trend Research: Stay up-to-date with fashion trends, conducting trend research, and contributing to design concepts that align with market demands.

  • Design Development: Work closely with the design team to assist in the development of apparel collections, from concept to final product, including the creation of seasonal mood boards and concepts.

  • Sketching and Rendering: Create sketches and digital renderings of design concepts, paying attention to details such as fabric, color, and fit.

  • Material Organization: Organize and maintain seasonal design decks, fabric swatches, and trim books.

  • Material Selection: Assist in selecting fabrics, trims, and embellishments for designs, considering quality and cost.

  • Tech Pack Creation: Create flat sketches and renderings using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, and create tech packs in PLM system (BOMs, specs, details, etc).

  • Sample Management: Maintain organized records of design samples, tracking their progress, and adjustments throughout the development process.

  • Quality Control: Measure fit samples, protos, SMS, and Bulk products to ensure all specs are within tolerance.

  • Fittings: Assist with fittings and product review sessions.

  • Development: Assist in all aspects of daily follow-up with external and internal partners,

  • Assortment Review: Participate in group meetings, fabric shows, and trend shopping

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, to ensure seamless design-to-manufacturing transitions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in fashion design or a related field.
  • Strong creative vision and the ability to translate concepts into innovative designs.
  • Tech Savvy and proficient with Adobe Creative Suites,
  • Familiarity with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) software.
  • Strong sketching and illustration skills, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, and sewing techniques.
  • Experience creating patterns for woven shirts and knits is a plus.
  • Understanding of color theory, fabric properties, and print development.
  • Familiarity with WGSN and other platforms used for trend forecasting, market analysis, and consumer behavior.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a design team.
  • Self-motivated with a focus on delivering results and meeting expectations.
