Litigation Paralegal - Law Firm - Washington, DC - Hybrid - $100-120k
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Litigation Paralegal to join our premier Supreme Court and Appellate practice group. This role is designed for a professional who thrives in high-stakes environments and possesses a deep understanding of the procedural complexities inherent in large-scale, sophisticated litigation.
The successful candidate will provide comprehensive support to our attorneys throughout all phases of the appellate process, ensuring that every filing is meticulous and every deadline is met with precision.
Oversee the preparation and filing of briefs, petitions for certiorari, and motions in the U.S. Supreme Court, Federal Circuit Courts, and various state appellate courts.
Maintain an expert-level understanding of court rules (e.g., SCOTUS Rules, FRAP) to ensure all documents meet stringent formatting, word count, and service requirements.
Compile and organize extensive trial records, appendices, and joint appendices; manage the technical aspects of electronic filing via CM/ECF and specialized court portals.
Perform cite-checking and bluebooking of legal authorities to ensure absolute accuracy in all written submissions.
Manage complex litigation calendars, tracking critical deadlines for briefing schedules and oral arguments.
Act as the primary point of contact for document management in multi-party or high-volume litigations, coordinating with co-counsel and vendors.
Minimum of 5+ years of litigation paralegal experience, with a significant emphasis on appellate work or large-scale complex litigation.
Mastery of Bluebook citation rules and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and Kofax.
Demonstrated experience with e-filing in the U.S. Supreme Court and various appellate jurisdictions.
An uncompromising eye for detail and a commitment to producing error-free work under tight time constraints.
A Bachelor’s degree and/or a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program is preferred.
Ability to synthesize large volumes of information and identify relevant trial record components for appellate review.
Capability to anticipate the needs of the legal team and manage competing priorities effectively.
Strong professional communication skills for interacting with court clerks, clients, and internal stakeholders.
