Work You'll Do

Consultants in Deloitte's Strategy & Diligence (S&D) area serve as trusted advisors to corporate and private equity clients. They synthesize overall strategy through supporting the development and testing of M&A strategies and deal theses by:

  • analyzing a wide variety of solutions, selecting the most relevant tools/techniques to meet specific client requirements such as business case, pricing, or complex financial analysis and interpreting and reporting on outputs
  • functioning as an integrator between business needs and technology solutions
  • Gaining exposure to multiple industries while demonstrating an awareness of the full breadth of services offered by Deloitte Consulting
  • Performing accurate analysis and effective diagnosis of client issues
  • Conducting financial analyses to understand and uncover value creation opportunities

The Team

Our M&A team offers expert guidance to corporate and private equity clients in navigating complex growth and divestiture scenarios. Our services encompass M&A strategy and transaction diligence, integration and separation planning and execution, as well as transaction financing.

M&A S&D serves as strategic advisors to Deloitte's senior clients across corporations and investors as they contemplate inorganic strategies. The S&D practice is one of multiple practices within the M&A offering - collectively these practices bring together market leading capabilities across the deal lifecycle. Specifically, our S&D team helps our clients define a strategy aligned with their objectives and industry trends, formalizing the target pursuit process for acquisitions and providing portfolio review and deal structuring for divestitures. We start by bringing bold ideas that shape the C-suite agenda, then develop strategies and rigorously test investment theses to support high-stakes decisions. We help identify, weigh, and compare growth pathways and potential targets to accelerate their pursuit of success. Our services include providing M&A based growth options, portfolio rationalizations, buy/build/partner decisions, buy-side and sell-side readiness assessment, target identification and screening/scanning, pre-bid advisory and diligence, vendor assistance, value lever identification, tax and deal structuring and M&A innovative technologies.

Qualifications :

Required:

  • 2+ years of M&A or M&A Service Delivery experience in the following areas:
    • Delivering advisory services to support mergers, acquisitions, carve-outs, and partnerships including strategy, target scans, and commercial and operational diligence engagements for large and/ or mid-market portfolio companies and/or corporations
    • Working with financial statements and complex models allowing for a strong understanding of where the numbers and data flow
  • Experience delivering 2+ Commercial Due Diligence and/or Operational Due Diligence Engagements
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 2+ years consulting and/or industry experience; alternatively, an MBA with 1+ year relevant work experience is acceptable
  • Ability to travel up to 50%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
Preferred:

  • Experience at a top strategy consulting firm or private equity / M&A Strategy focused boutique consulting firm
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to apply practical experience with communications, culture, and change management
  • Ability to perform analysis and synthesize data into useful insights
  • Experience with staff development and eagerness to mentor junior practitioners
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple task assignments
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills (MS PowerPoint)
  • An advanced degree (MBA; PhD; JD; MD; Masters)

A reasonable estimate of the current range is $97900 to $165100.
