UNCOMN is seeking a Software Tester 2-3 (Associate/Mid-Level) to:

  • Design, develop, and execute test plans, test cases, and test procedures for new and existing products, with a strong focus on hands-on functional, regression, integration, and user acceptance testing.
  • Perform testing in accordance with established plans, procedures, and applicable policies to ensure consistent and reliable validation of system behavior.
  • Review requirements and functional specifications to understand expected outcomes and ensure appropriate test coverage.
  • Identify, document, and manage defects, including detailed reproduction steps, and work closely with developers to support troubleshooting and resolution.
  • Execute regression testing for new features and defect fixes to ensure overall product stability and quality.
  • Assist in setting up and maintaining test environments and test data to support effective testing activities.
  • Document test execution results and communicate progress, risks, and issues to the team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product quality and contribute to ongoing improvements in testing processes and practices.
  • Contribute to both manual and automated testing efforts, including executing and maintaining test cases and supporting automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium or similar) as needed.
  • Contingent upon contract award.

This position description outlines the core duties for this role, but it is not all-inclusive. Responsibilities may shift based on contract requirements, mission needs, or organizational objectives.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of related professional experience.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a Secret clearance, granted by the US Government as needed, which requires US citizenship. The government also uses 13 adjudicative guidelines to determine an individual's eligibility.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps-style environments and ticket-driven workflows (e.g., JIRA, Tableau).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Must be comfortable working onsite full-time at Naval Station Norfolk or at a designated partner facility within the Norfolk, Hampton, or Virginia Beach area, pending final site establishment.
  • Must be comfortable meeting DoD Cyber Workforce Framework (DCWF)/8140 requirements, obtaining professional certifications as required by the client/contract.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in a similar field/course of study.
  • Active professional certifications such as CompTIA Security+, ISTQB Certified Tester series (Foundation to Expert), etc.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control, and hands-on experience testing in Citrix and WIZ
  • Knowledge of compliance standards (e.g., NIST, Section 508) or quality frameworks (e.g., ISO, CMMI).
